Footwear Spring/Summer 2011/2012 Snapshot – Australia
Footwear Spring/Summer 2011/2012 Snapshot – Australia
By Jenny Tran – Fly Clothing, Business Development Consultant
For many, shoes are the final touch to an outfit – it can make or break it. For the devout few, shoes are the outfit – it tells a story and deserves to be recognised in its own right. For women, like handbags, shoes are collected; unfortunately shoes don’t get the same level of care and attention as do a handbag.
This article will be a brief snapshot of the current trends in Australia with regard to women’s shoes and my picks of the crop and what I think are the duds – of course every girl has a different opinion – so don't take this as gospel.
This is a trend referring to a combination of masculine and feminine characteristics. This isn’t a new trend – but has become quite prominent in the shoe department. Namely in the likes of the lace ups, oxfords, loafers and man tailored shoes. I can’t say that these shoes suit all women, as it is often worn without socks and paired with slim fit tailored pants cropped to the ankle. I have yet to see them successfully paired with a skirt – however with the revival of pencil skirts this trend would look perfect paired with the high heeled loafers for an understated yet slightly naughty look.
Man Tailored
Loafers (high heels)
Trend: Colour blocking
Colour blocking is all about bright colours worn together. Don’t be afraid to be daring and place two unlikely colours together! This is definitely something I look forward to after a cold winter season of the Melbourne staple – black! Bring on the burst of summer through colours: think blues, this seasons IT colour RED, purples, melons, gold, turquoise, greens, yellows and all that lies in between!

Trend: Chunky/block heels – vintage inspired
Perfect for that balmy night out
Tan, chestnut browns match with this season’s crisp white outfits

Espadrille and orange – two trends in one!
So I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I have – I must say reviewing all these shoes are making my feet itch to add to my collection of 60+ shoes! I definitely look forward to the colours of spring and summer and my only wish is for Australia to stock shoes in smaller sizes! Keep your eyes and ears peeled of course for my new venture – Zibroni – watch this space!

The sunshine is coming out and the skies are clearing – the smell of spring is in the air and with it comes the launch of the new Spring/Summer 2011/2012 season.

Hot hot hot satin pink with an extra sparkle – Mollini’s “Queen” will definitely turn some heads on the dance floor with these gorgeous open-toe heels

An interesting revival of 60s and 70s inspired chunky/block heels have made its way to Australian shelves – I can’t say I’m a fan of the style, however for those who find tottering on stiletto heels a little difficult; these chunky heels will definitely help with balance! I’m thinking I’ll be giving this trend a miss!
Pair it back with your favourite maxi dress or a silk pencil pants and blouse combo for a more sophisticated look. Go for a typical cork style or rope-espadrille for a casual and effortless summery feel or a detailed and embellished wedge for more of a feminine sophisticated appeal. Bright coloured wedges are coming out in full force with the colour blocking trend circulating this spring summer. The perfect statement wedge can range from fun and flirty, weekend casual chic or elegant summer wardrobe.
Perfect for that balmy night out
Add some sophistication to your corporate suit

Official Partner - DJ Shook

We have just added this Dj onto our partners list!
DJ Shook aka 'Hao Phu' from BurnCity emphasises 'Hip Hop is a lifestyle not a style'. This up-and-coming DJ in Melbourne is not simply spinning and mixtaping, he is trying to change the landscape of hip hop in Australia and move it onto the next level. Shook is surely a one-of-a-kind DJ that we all have to look out to.
Check out his blog: http://dj-shook.blogspot.com/
